Kevin Veara is a bird guide for Lincoln Memorial Gardens located in Springfield, Illinois, and has been leading hikes for close to twenty years. He also enjoys traveling around the country for bird watching vacations.

He owns seven acres of land on the banks of the South Fork of the Sangamon River. He is currently restoring the land by planting appropriate native plants and removing others hoping to create a haven for birds and animals. He keeps notes of the birds that nest on the property and use it for foraging. Living out in the country has allowed him to see the arrival of birds in the spring and migration in the fall. He truly has immersed himself in his subject's habitat.
