If you have stopped in or passed by art center recently, you may have noticed the window display and a colorful change in the gift shop area. We are pleased to celebrate Día de los Muertos with the Hispanic community. This is a celebration for friends and family to honor and remember those who have died. They have created a community-based ofrenda and encourage everyone to bring in a photo of their loved one to display on the ofrenda. The community ofrenda is dedicated to Erica Conchas who passed in 2016. She graduated from Monmouth High School and Monmouth College, majoring in business. She worked at Wells Fargo. She returned to Monmouth five years before her passing. Erica is remembered for her vitality and community-oriented nature.
Join us in the BCA Gallery as we continue the community celebration 4-6pm Saturday, November 2. This is the first celebration of Día de los Muertos at the art center with many more to come! There will be refreshments and a gallery talk at 5pm. This event is free and open to the public. See you in the gallery!
