JUROR:
Samantha Grassi is an exhibition designer, artist, and culture-consumer originally from New York. Grassi currently designs exhibitions at the Art Institute of Chicago. She creates architectural spaces and unique displays that tell stories, communicate ideas, and — most importantly — highlight art.
With a formal background in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art, Grassi’s design practice is rooted in the artistic process. Her work brings together her love for art history, material culture, creativity, and collaboration.
Prior to joining the Art Institute, Grassi designed exhibitions at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. This experience solidified a life-long passion for museums as spaces for cultural and artistic exchange. This passion touches all of Grassi’s current professional and personal projects.
Most recent projects include: Andy Warhol: From A to B and Back Again, PHOTOGRAPHY + FOLK ART: Looking for America in the 1930s and Gregg Bordowitz: I Wanna Be Well.
