Buchanan Center for the Arts presents a photography seminar to help you prepare for the Security Savings Bank 38th-Annual Photography Show in the BCA gallery August 27-October 11, 2019. The four sessions will meet at the Buchanan Center on Wednesdays at 5:30pm: May 1, 8, 22, & 29. The first session, on Wednesday, May 1, is free. Our 2019 Security Savings Bank Annual Photography Show juror, Rich Ankeney, will present four sessions aimed to help you improve your use of creative camera controls, better your understanding of cameras and lenses, develop a more intuitive sense of composition and visualization, and choose and prepare your best images. Juror: Rich Ankeney has been actively making photographs for over fifty years. He has exhibited widely and his work has received numerous awards. Rich earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting & photography from Quincy University, a masters degree in art education from Illinois State University, a masters degree in instructional technology from Western Illinois University, and completed over forty hours of coursework to achieve Apple Teacher Institute certification. Rich taught art and photography classes at Carl Sandburg College for over 25 years and attended workshops led by famous photographers Rick Sammon, Joe McNally, Moose Peterson, Bill Fortney, and others. In 2002, he received an Outstanding Alumni Award from the Art Department at Quincy University. These sessions are open to everyone with a digital camera. You need not enter the photo show to attend.
