STUDIO 64: Yoga

Easy Does it Yoga for Folks over 50 (or those whose bodies feel like that!) Wednesdays in the BCA gallery with yoga instructor Sallee Wade. Sessions include: 4-5pm June 12, and 5-6pm June 19-July 31. $10/session or $55 for the six-week series (paid in advance). Participants will need to bring a mat and wear comfortable clothing. Yoga's a Sanskrit word, meaning union with the divine. Hatha Yoga gently stretches, strengthens all the major muscle groups, allowing the creative intelligence in every cell to be awakened, refreshed and waste products to be removed - including limiting thoughts. STUDIO 64: Photography Seminar

Buchanan Center for the Arts presents a photography seminar to help you prepare for the Security Savings Bank 38th-Annual Photography Show in the BCA gallery August 27-October 11, 2019. The four sessions will meet at the Buchanan Center on Wednesdays at 5:30pm: May 1, 8, 22, & 29. The first session, on Wednesday, May 1, is free. The cost for the following three sessions is $20 per session, $15 for BCA members. Registration is required. Our 2019 Security Savings Bank Annual Photography Show juror, Rich Ankeney, will present four sessions aimed to help you improve your use of creative camera controls, better your understanding of cameras and lenses, develop a more intuitive sense of composition and visualization, and choose and prepare your best images. Juror: Rich Ankeney has been actively making photographs for over fifty years. He has exhibited widely and his work has received numerous awards. Rich earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting & photography from Quincy University, a masters degree in art education from Illinois State University, a masters degree in instructional technology from Western Illinois University, and completed over forty hours of coursework to achieve Apple Teacher Institute certification. Rich taught art and photography classes at Carl Sandburg College for over 25 years and attended workshops led by famous photographers Rick Sammon, Joe McNally, Moose Peterson, Bill Fortney, and others. In 2002, he received an Outstanding Alumni Award from the Art Department at Quincy University. These sessions are open to everyone with a digital camera. STUDIO 64: Acting & Improv Workshop

The BCA Armoury Players invites you to attend a free Acting & Improv Workshop for adults and teenagers 7-8:30pm Wednesday, April 17, and Tuesday, April 23. The workshops, lead by Stacia Mattan, will consist of scene-work, monologues, audition practice, and improv exercises. Actors of every skill level are invited to attend — from seasoned pros to those just wanting to try their hand at acting. Feel free to attend one or both sessions! Open to all skill levels and are open work time for class participants. Mondays 7-9pm at the Monmouth College McMike Ceramics Lab. Participants will be allowed to enter and set up beginning at 6:45pm. All participants must be cleaned up and leave the studio/building by 9:15pm. Clay Classes with Janis Mars Wunderlich

“Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer,

Landscape photography is about finding something interesting in
the scene before you and putting it in context with the environment
around it — no more, no less. This class will be about learning to
identify those interesting elements. Framing and cropping, utilizing
camera settings for a variety of light conditions, and going beyond
the limits of your camera frame and shooting a panorama. We will
start with instruction and discussion and then move out into the
field to shoot. Wear walking shoes, comfortable clothes, and bring
a camera and a creative attitude!
