Clay classes with Janis Wunderlich

Open to all skill levels and are open work time for class participants. Mondays 7-9pm at the Monmouth College McMike Ceramics Lab. Participants will be allowed to enter and set up beginning at 6:45pm. All participants must be cleaned up and leave the studio/building by 9:15pm. Clay Classes with Janis Mars Wunderlich

Classes are open to all skill levels and are open work time for class participants. “Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer,
and often the supreme disappointment.” – Ansel Adams

Landscape photography is about finding something interesting in
the scene before you and putting it in context with the environment
around it — no more, no less. This class will be about learning to
identify those interesting elements. Framing and cropping, utilizing
camera settings for a variety of light conditions, and going beyond
the limits of your camera frame and shooting a panorama. We will
start with instruction and discussion and then move out into the
field to shoot. Wear walking shoes, comfortable clothes, and bring
a camera and a creative attitude!

Zentangle - Advanced

What is Zentangle? Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images with ink. It increases focus and provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well being. For those who have taken the previous classes, this class offers more materials and more patterns. Adults (18+) are $30. Class fee includes material kit, instruction, and refreshments.

Edible Art

Edible art!?!?!? Yes! Spend your time drawing, painting, sculpting, and EATING artwork inspired by the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo. Giuseppe was an Italian painter best known for creating imaginative portrait heads made entirely of objects such as fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, and books. Students 18 and under are free of charge. Class includes materials, instruction, and refreshments.

Felted Flowers
10am-1:30pm Saturday, July 16
Make a beautiful flower sewn onto a brooch pin or barrette. It can add a pop of color and fun to a purse or jacket, or you might come up with your own creative use! Learn to make a round wool bead that is used as the flower center. Participants will need to bring the following supplies: a bowl that will hold a quart of water, a pair of sewing scissors with a sharp point to cut the felt, a sewing needle to attach the flower to a brooch pin or barrette, a sponge to soak up extra water, and a bath towel.  $25 includes a flower kit, instructions, and refreshments.

Writing Creativity

Workshop and “think aloud” offered to 4th – 6th grade students to explore creative writing. Class is free of charge and includes materials, instruction, and refreshments.

Bring your guitar and join Brian Glasgow in the BCA gallery for a workshop that will show you how to get started. Or if you’ve been playing for a while, he can help you along further. Perspective & Creating Drama in Photography

The dark side of the moon, the deep end of the pool, glass half empty or half full, the opposite point of view. Life would be pretty boring without different perspectives. Abe Lincoln had his own take on it, “We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.”  Photography, like life can get pretty boring without considering different perspectives. Changing perspective can create drama in photographs. Come out for a couple hours of capturing the world looking down, up, over, out, and sideways. Mark Dierker will instruct you on how to avoid drama in life but create it in art! Digital camera is required. This class is complimentary for our BCA members, non-members are $20. Class includes instruction and refreshments.

Trifecta Works on Paper

Have you ever wanted to explore charcoal, pastels, or mixed media? Well, you can when you join Cherry Simmons in our BCA classroom as she guides you through an evening of exploring subject matter from three different medium perspectives. Adult Coloring Series

Adult Coloring Party Series

In partnership with the Warren County Public Library, this adult coloring series gives you an opportunity to relax, unwind, and be creative. $15 registration fee includes Johanna Basford’s Lost Ocean and adult refreshments. 21+ adults.

Porcelain Envelopes with Mary Schuytema
11am-1pm Saturday, April 16
Make a unique wall vase for those first bright blooms. Using porcelain clay, you will roll a slab, stamp, and texture to create an original design. With a simple fold, an envelope is fashioned. After a few weeks, your vase will be returned to the BCA glazed in your choice of one of three celadon colors. $30 registration fee includes materials, instruction, and refreshments. 13 years & older. What on Earth Watercolor & Acrylic Painting with Cherry Simmons

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than to create a beautiful landscape. With the instruction of Cherry Simmons, you will enjoy your journey through this wonderful watercolor and acrylic painting class. Mom's day Sweet Treat Creation

Want to make a unique and edible gift for mom this year? This class will teach the art of making chocolates. Students will learn how to mold and decorate chocolates and create a special card for mom. This class is free and includes materials, instructions, and refreshments. Ages 8-18.

Origami Animals with Leroy Valentin

Learn how to create your very own origami animal kingdom. Classes are free – materials and refreshments provided. 3rd grade – high school.

Grandma’s Buttons Tumbler with Mary Schuytema
12-2pm Saturday, March 12
Try your hand at an easy, slab built, stoneware tumbler. Roll a slab and impress with various texture stamps, then cut it out using a template. The tumbler will be fired and returned to the BCA within a few weeks. We'll even make a stamp in class. Everybody’s an Actor with Natalie Stortoni

Everybody's an Actor. Natalie Stortoni is offering an introductory acting course. This hands-on workshop teaches the basics of acting focusing on voice, movement, character building, scene study, and improvisation in a supportive environment. Students of all levels are welcome. No prior experience necessary. Participants may attend any number of classes. This class is free of charge and light snacks will be provided.

Introduction to Zentangle with Natalie Kessler
11am-1pm Saturday, March 19
What is Zentangle? Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images with ink. It increases focus and provides artistic satisfaction along with an increased sense of personal well-being. $25 includes material kit, instruction, and refreshments. 18 + adults.

Everybody's an Actor!
