The BCA is pleased to announce this year’s juror for the 64 Arts National Juried Exhibition is Lonnie Eugene Stewart. Stewart was born and raised in the village of Delong near Galesburg, Illinois. From the age of six he became fascinated with portraiture. Because there was no art taught in public schools, his parents sought private lessons to cultivate his talent. Later, Stewart went on to attend Knox College and The Art Institute of Chicago with private advanced training in Florence, Italy. Stewart became an artist of international stature. His body of work has included monumental sculptures of outstanding individuals both contemporary and historical…thus his childhood fascination with portraiture continues as well as the challenge to bring forth the essence of each individual. His commissions have included religious notables and royalty, celebrities and socialites, and blue chipped executives and prominent families around the globe, such as:
His Holiness Pope John Paul II
Mother Teresa of Calcutta
President Ronald Wilson Reagan
H.R.H. Diana, the Princess of Wales
H.R.H. Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York
H.H. Maharana Mewar of Udaipur
The Maharani Vijaykuverba of Morvi
H.M. King Constantine of Greece in exile
First Lady, Laura Bush
Carl Sandburg
Reuben G. Soderstrom

In addition to Stewart's passion for human character and form, insects and animals are favorite subjects.
